Dear Sir,

Reference your letter of 11th May to Mr A. L. Humphreys. I telephoned Mr John Morris during my visit to London for the Second Reading of the Bill as you will see from enclosures. The files will show also I have written previously to the Prime Minister.

Please see copies attached, there is clearly a belief that the speeches and strong sentiments expressed on both sides of the House mean passports will be granted to this group.

Wish to emphasize the Ex-Service organisations here Royal British Legion/Hong Kong and China) Branch and Hong Kong Ex P.0.. Association have consistently requested the wives of Ex-servicemen 1939-45, Chinese Ex-servicemen are included not only the war widows. The Volunteers have been granted their passports but not their wives the discrimination, divisions and injustice should be obvious.

We trust when as you stated "further arrangements can be made" the whole of this group as in the resolutions forwarded to the Prime Minister will not be forgotten.
