Brief No. 3

Education/Training Points: Defensive Q/A Brief.

Q. 1 Why

choose education/training as a point-scoring

attribute?

A. 1 Because in general a

better-educated

or more

highly-trained person is better able to contribute to

society and economy. Alco, 36 a counter-emigration

measure, takes account of selection criteria of main

immigration countries where weight is given

education/training.

Q. 2

why a 150 points maximum weighting?

A. 2

education/training

education/training

We consider that experience and

should be given equal weight, and hence both

attributes have a 150 points maximum score. To weigh

more heavily than working

experience would tend to favour those better at

acquiring academic/professional qualifications than

practising in their professions. To weigh education/

training less heavily than working experience could

favour time-servers against those who improve their

skills.
