1. I visited Gibraltar from 25-26 September.
The primary
I
purpose of my visit was to reassure the Gibraltarians about my
commitment to Gibraltar in spite of my Spanish connections.
think I managed to convince them that I am not going to sell
Gibraltar down the river!
2.
My main interlocutor during the visit was of course the
Chief Minister, Joe Bossano, but I also had meetings with the
leader of the opposition, Alfonso Canepa and other members of
the AACR, the leader of the Gibraltar Social Democrats, Peter
Montegriffo, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Michael
Feetham, trades union representatives, the Financial Services
Commissioner, Mr Penman Brown and the Board of the Gibraltar
Chamber of Commerce. In addition I attended a tri-service
briefing at the Gibraltar Maritime Headquarters, visited some
of Gibraltar's development sites, spoke at a lunch hosted by
