The ordinance may be used to recognize and enforce Chinese custom affecting NT land which excludes female from rights of succession to land (article 26).
Joint Declaration has specifically preserved the custom of succession through the male line only. The inconsistency within the Joint Declaration will need to be looked into as well. FCO being consulted on this matter.
