UK VISA ABOLITION AGREEMENTS WITH AUSTRIA AND ARGENTINA

1. I refer to your note of 21 March to Mr Henderson, Passport Department, which you also copied to Mrs Kellas of this Division who has passed it to me for comments.

There is very little we would wish to say about the proposed arrangements that you have outlined. However we do feel that agreement must include British subjects who also hold the blue British passport. We have confirmed that British subjects covered by section 30 of the British Nationality Act 1981 are also entitled to have their passports endorsed showing that they have the right of readmission to the United Kingdom. Accordingly it will be necessary to add British subjects to the list in the Annex to your note. Otherwise we are content with what is proposed.
