Thank you for your letter of 6 September concerning call signs for Radio
Radio Amateurs on Pitcairn. First, I must apologise for this delayed response but I have only just returned to the office after about 12 weeks absence (Two major Conferences and leave).
I can now let you have some good news which will no doubt be well-received by the Radio Amateurs on Pitcairn. I have been asked by the FCO to back-pedal on the Hong Kong call sign issue and to take no further action for the time being. As I see it now, it may not be necessary at
at all for the Amateurs on Pitcairn to change their call signs. However, if a change does become necessary I will insist on adequate notice being given (in my
view adequate notice would be nothing less that four or five years). I will of course keep you in
course keep you in the picture and let you know of any further developments.
Our best wishes for Christmas hesitate to contact me if you any radio issue in the area
Yours sincerely
