Main aspects of port development are

development on peninsula of reclaimed land

extending southeast from northeast corner of

Lantau.

North Lantau Fixed Crossing : possibly a 1.4 km suspension bridge carrying dual 3 lane

3 lane road and railway.

Tunnel not yet ruled out as possibility. Engineering review in hand. Financial consultants to be appointed soon for financial analysis since project is to be privatised.

Great deal of Japanese interest. Tenders likely to be

called in last quarter 1990.
