Wildlife Division of the DOE have sent me a copy of a letter from Isobel McCrea of Greenpeace about elephants. DOE would welcome some urgent advice from you on the last substantive paragraph of that letter ie what will happen to Hong Kong's ivory stocks after 1997 when the Chinese take over responsibility for them in the light of the continuing reservation of the PRC against the Appendix I listing of the African elephant?
