In the first quarter of 1990, the supply of
new office space, in terms of total usable floor area
completed, increased substantially by 209%. For the
twelve-months ending March 1990, the increase from a
year earlier was 53%.

Similarly for other commercial premises
(mainly shops), the supply of newly completed space,
in terms of usable floor area, increased by 124% in
the first quarter. For the twelve months ending March
1990, the increase was, however, only modest, at 5%
over a year earlier.

As regards flatted factory space, supply
increased by 56% in the first quarter of 1990. For
the twelve months ending March 1990, there was a
decrease of 15% compared with the preceding
twelve-month period.

Planned property developments, in terms of
the total usable floor area on building plans with
consent to commence work, showed an increase of 12% in
the first quarter of 1990.
