POLITICAL BACKGROUND BRIEF

1. We are now conducting the six monthly exercise to up-date the FCO's general Political Background Brief for use at international meetings.

2.

I attach those sections of the brief for which addressees are responsible and would be grateful if you would make any necessary amendments to your entries. Some departments have already minuted with amendments to the February brief and I also attach these in case they require further changes.

3.

Contributions should be in final form and without page numbers. Any classification should not be typed on the brief but indicated on a separate piece of paper.

4. I would be grateful if responses could be sent to Owen Richards by COP 6 July. If we do not hear from addressees by then we shall presume that no amendments are required to their entries.
