It has been decided to establish

a new department, to be known as the Intellectual Property Department, which will have responsibility for all areas of intellectual property, including trade marks, service marks, patents, designs, utility models, computer software and copyright, under the Trade and Industry Branch.

Under the current Uruguay round of multilateral trade negotiations, it is expected that a multilateral framework on the protection of trade-related intellectual property rights will emerge.

Depending on

the final form

of the multilateral

framework, it may be necessary to consult/inform the Chinese.
