HONG KONG DEPARTMENT: SECRETARIAL COVER FOR JLG XVI

1. One of our secretaries, Rebecca Williams, has to enter hospital for a minor operation in the week beginning

24 September. This unfortunately clashes with the meeting in London of the Sino British Joint Liaison Group (JLG XVI).

2. This is our busiest time and it is essential that we have full secretarial support throughout the period of meeting. I would, however, be very reluctant indeed to ask Miss Williams to turn down the appointment, since it would mean that she would have to wait a considerable time before

another slot became vacant.

3. I must therefore request a replacement S2 (or S2A) for the week commencing 24 September. I hope that this early warning will enable you to plan accordingly. It would be most helpful to have your confirmation that a replacement

should be available.
