ARTICLE 1

DEFINITIONS

In this Contract the terms set forth hereinafter shall have the meanings defined in this Article:

Launch Vehicle or Launcher means the Long March 3 launch vehicle designated by CGWIC to perform the Launch Mission as set forth in this Contract.

Payload means the property supplied by the Client and required to be launched, with its basic parameters as stipulated in Annex I or, as the case may be, the property supplied by the Client for a Replacement Launch or a Reflight.

Payload Mission means the mission assigned to the Payload by the Client after separation from the Launch Vehicle.

Launch Base means the satellite launch center at Xichang in Sichuan Province, China, including its installations and equipment.

Launch Mission means the flight mission assigned to the Long March 3 Launch Vehicle as specified hereunder in Annex I.

Launch Period means a period of three (3) consecutive calendar months during which the Launch is scheduled to take place pursuant to the terms of this Contract.

Launch Slot means a period of one calendar month within a Launch Period with daily Launch Window availability.

Launch Day means a calendar day set for the Launch within the Launch Slot during which the Launch Window is open.

Launch Time means the instant that the ignition of the first stage engines of the Launch Vehicle is scheduled to take place within the designated Launch Window for the purpose of commencing the Launch Mission by the lift off of the Launch Vehicle.

Launch Window means the period on any day determined by the Parties as being suitable for a Launch to be accomplished.

Launch means the intentional ignition of the first stage engines of the Launch Vehicle, carrying the Payload supplied by the Client, for the purpose of commencing the Launch Mission by the lift off of the Launch Vehicle, where "ignition" means the ignition and combustion of the fuel for the first stage engines.
