I - Volunteer Pensions
Those eligible
All members of the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force and the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps called out on active service on or after 30 August 1939 and 7 December 1941 respectively are eligible if they were disabled during such service (including any period in enemy captivity), Also eligible are the widows and dependants of such members who were killed in action or who died of their wounds or in captivity.

Current place of residence is not material to the determination of eligibility. These pensions and other awards are paid to eligible persons resident in Hong Kong or elsewhere without differentiation,
Assesment and payment criteria

The Volunteer and Naval Volunteer Pensions Ordinance(providua for all pensions and other awards to be computed in accordance with the Naval, Military and Air Forces etc. (Disablement and Death) Service Fensions Order 1978. This means that the rates applicable in the United Kingdom to members of H.M. Regular Forces apply to these Volunteer
Pensions.

The Naval, Military and Air Forces etc. (Disablement and Death) Service Pensious Order 1978 provides that pensions and other awards shall be paid when it is shown that -
(a) a disability is due to an injury which:
(i) is attributable to service; or
(ii) existed before or arose during
service and has been and remains aggravated thereby;
(b) death was due to or hastened by:

(i) an injury that was attributable to
service; ΩΣ
(ii) the aggravation by service of an injury
which existed before or arose during service.
Awards

various awards are revised from time to time by Order
of Her Majesty ia Council, and include:
(a) Disability pensions - these are paid when an izjury has resulted in 20% or more permanent disability. The present rates range between
