The Commissioner, Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has lately asked that the scope of the Cupboard.

Royal Warrant of 1 August 1986 instituting the disciplined services medal should be extended to include the ICA C. The Commissioner argues that the ICAC has disciplined service status as regards pay (this is confirmed by the Secretary General of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service), overtime, and nature of work. The only difference between the ICAC and other disciplined services is that

is that the ICAC is not a uniformed service, and that distinction is not enough in itself to justify exclusion of the ICAC from the medal scheme. A copy of the Commissioner's memo is enclosed.

The proposal has received the support of all relevant secretariat branches, and I am now writing to ask for your help in taking the matter forward. We are unsure whether an amendment to the Royal Warrant is possible, or whether a new

new Warrant would be required, and would be most grateful if you would take this up with the Home Office. ProdD The Commissioner, ICAC has set out his proposed amendments to the Warrant which I am forwarding for your reference, Cabinet together with other relevant background papers.
