of four directorate posts (one Director, one Deputy Director and two Assistant Directors) for the new Intellectual Property Department which will be established 2 July 1990.

The appointment of Director of Intellectual Property, which was approved vide your teleletter ref. HKB 431/3 of 29 March 1990, will be announced today and the Director of Intellectual Property (Designate) is anxious to announce the appointment of Deputy Director, if approved, as soon as possible.

Against this background, I should be grateful if the Secretary of State could be invited to approve the recommendation set out in paragraph 1(b) above subject, of course, to the favourable advice of Public Service Commission.
