Administration of the Insurance Companies Ordinance. in his role as the statutory Insurance Authority;

Overall planning and policies for prudential supervision of the Hong Kong insurance industry, recommending necessary changes to the law and supervising the implementation of the law;

Advising the Secretary for Monetary Affairs on all aspects in the regulation of the Hong Kong insurance industry;

Liaising with overseas regulatory authorities for developing or promoting international co-operation in the effective supervision of insurers or combatting insurance frauds;

Planning the legislation, administrative system, and additional resources required for the future introduction of regulation of private retirement schemes, and the administration of such after implementation; and

Overall management and control of all staff and resources of the Office of the Commissioner for Insurance.
