Latest Position
ExCo agreed on December 1989 that Government's acceptance of the new directorate pay scales recommended in the Ross Committee's Tenth Report should be announced at the end of January 1990. However, it is considered desirable to make the announcement at the same time as the proposals for the Disciplined Directorate are announced. This should be in early February.
The consultation exercise on proposed changes to existing civil service housing benefits recommended by an inter-departmental Working Group ended on 24 November 1989. A total of 210 submissions were received from the three central consultative councils, departments, staff associations and individual officers. All staff comments have been carefully examined and studied. A paper reporting on the outcome of the consultation exercise and possible modifications to the Working Group's recommendations in the light of staff comments was submitted to PSPG on 19 December 1989. It has been decided to resubmit the proposals to ExCo before the advisory bodies on salaries and conditions of service are approached for advice. The intention is to introduce any agreed changes in the financial year 1990-91.
