Thank you for your kind letter on the 13th November relating to Chief Superintendant E J Stevenson of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force.

I have passed on your explanation to Mr Stevenson, but I wonder whether you have had an opportunity to consider how the award of the two medals should be denoted by means of post-nominals. As you say, the situation is unlikely to arise in future, but he seems to attach some importance to it.
