The appointment is for a period of 24 months' resident service.
The officer's resident service will count from the date of his assumption of duty, which is normally the date of his arrival in Hong Kong.
The date of first appointment is normally the date upon which the officer leaves the country of engagement for Hong Kong, provided that he travels by air by the most direct
If he breaks his journey or travels by an indirect route or by other means the extra travelling time is deducted before determining his date of first appointment.
The officer will receive the same salary as that which would normally be paid to him by his home force, during the period of his appointment. He will in addition he paid a special allowance equivalent to the difference, if any, between his substantive salary in his home force and the salary of a Superintendent of Police in Hong Kong on the equivalent salary point, should the Hong Kong salary be higher than his salary from his home force. The allowance, if any, will be payable with effect from the officer's date of first appointment until the completion of the period of appointment.
The special allowance, if any, will, in addition, be payable for a period equivalent to the difference between the officer's normal leave period in the United Kingdom and the actual leave granted in Hong Kong under paragraph 9 of this Memorandum during the period of appointment.
In addition to the special allowance, the officer will also be paid a cost of living allowance at 5% of the salary of a Superintendent in Hong Kong on the equivalent salary incremental point to his own, in his home force.
The officer's salary, special allowance, if any, and cost of living allowance will be paid monthly in arrears, locally in Hong Kong dollars at the prevailing rate of exchange.
The salary of the officer is liable to deductions under Clauses 7,8,13 and 14.
