UK/RHKP EXCHANGE SCHEME
Thank you for your letter of 8 January, 1990.
I am delighted that you foresee no difficulties with regard to the funding of phase five of the exchange and I look forward to receiving the details of the Hong Kong officers once they have been selected. The starting date of 1 August, 1990 is most appropriate given that two of the UK officers have children of school age and accordingly, is perfectly acceptable.
On the matter of letters of appointment, I too am glad that the procedures have been finally agreed and understood. Provided no alterations are made without full consultation, future arrangements should be made without difficulty.
I am grateful that you intend to copy all future correspondence to me as it is important that all parties are kept in the picture. In view of this, I am also copying this letter to Mr Holroyd and John Kelland at the FCO and to Iain Grant.
I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
G Hindhaugh Esq OBE QPM CPM
Deputy Commissioner (Management) Royal Hong Kong Police
