A leaflet (NI 38) issued by the Department of health and Social Security about ional Insurance for People Abroad is enclosed for your information. actention is drawn to the paragraph explaining that your rights to certain benefits on return to Britain will depend on whether you have contributed abroad or not, You would be well advised to discuss matters with your local office of the Department of Health and Social Security if you have any doubts about benefits to

you.

8. The Consulting Physician by whom you were examined has advised that you require vaccination against smallpox, cholera, poliomyelitis and the enteric fevers before your departure. You are strongly advised to seek the advice of your own doctor with regard to the protection of your wife and family against the diseases mentioned acore before your departure. In particular his advice should be sought on the necessity for a booster dose in the case of poliomyelitis immunisation.

9. If you do take up the appointment you are strongly encouraged to attend one of the Acclimatisation Courses conducted by the Hong Kong Government Office in London. Your name and address has been given to the Hong Kong Commissioner in London who will contact you about attendance at such a course.

10. There is an association called "The Overseas Development Service Association" to which officers proceeding overseas on agreement may belong. Details are enclosed, together with a leaflet giving an outline of the voluntary contributory Overseas Service Pension Schems. Overseas distribution of "Overseas Development" a copy of vich is enclosed, is arranged by the Government of Hong Kong and you may wish to contact the head of your department in Hong Kong about local distribution arrangements.

11. You may be interested in the facilities offered by the Parents National Educational Union as set out in the enclosed leaflet.

12. You are asked to state whether you wish to take up the appointment indicating the earliest date on which you would be ready to leave for Hong Kong having regard to the fact your services are required as soon as possible and whether you wish your family to accompany you. Your cttention is drawn to pararuph 8 of the enclosed Hemorandum. You would be required to travel to Hong Kong by air,

Provided you wish to take up the appointment, a further letter will be sent to you informing you whether the Crown Agents have been asked to contact you regarding the completion of the passage agreement referred to in paragraph 3. You are advised to do nothing which commits you for the future in your personal or domestic affairs, or in your employment, until you have received that letter.

14. If you propose taking up the appointment it would be appreciated if you would state whether you have any objection to publicity being given in the press (mainly local and specialist papers) to your appointment. If you are not interested in the appointment, would you be good enough to return the enclosures to this letter.
