1. I un directed by the Minister for Overseas Development to inform you, on behalf of the Government of Hong Kong, that you have been selected for appointme under the terms of the Overseas Service Act (1958) to the service of that Government as a Superintendent of Police subject to your entering into the agreement referred to in paragraph 3. The terms and conditions would be as set out in this letter and the cnclosed Memorandum with the exception of paragrapi 28. You would not be eligible for a gratuity on completion of your

Superannuation would continue to be provided under the provisions of the United Kingdon Police Pensions Act and Police Pension regulations and you would be required to continue to pay pension contributions at the appropriate rate based on the pensionable salary of your substantive post in the Home Police Force.

It is understood that, if you decide to take up the appointment, the Government of Hong lung intends to post you to the Criminal investigation Department to implement the reorganization of Ull: Criminal Records Office. It is, however, emphasised that you would be joinii, a government norvien and you may be required to serve in any part of the Colony cha undertake suitable duties as directed by the Government.

The agreement which you would be required to enter into vould be with the Crown Agents for Oversca Governments and Administrations acting on behalf of the Government of Hong Kong in respect of the cost of your pascuees to Hong Kong. It is stressed that the British Corerament would have no contractual obligation to you.

4. The basic salary scale attached to the appointment commcases at BKS 4455 a month and progresses by annual incriszents to a maximum of HKS 5685 a month. would enter the scale at Kg 5685 a month.
