V. Concept Papers

Tertiary institutions in Hong Kong are invited to submit to USIS/HK by November 1, concept papers laying out the general terms and arrangements they would propose for hosting the Centre.

Concept papers should address the following issues:

1.

How would such a Centre fit into the institution's long-range goals and plans for international exchanges?

What physical facilities could be made available, on what

How would the terms and in what timeframe, to house the Centre? American Studies collection relate to existing library resources and systems?

3. What components of the academic program, both current and planned, would draw on the American studies collection?

4. What facilities and services are available on or adjacent to the campus that would be appropriate for use by visiting scholars and students?

How would the advising function be carried out in the framework of the Centre? What provisions would be taken to ensure that the Centre could serve the whole tertiary system with regard to U.S.-HK exchanges?

6. How would the host institution propose to structure the Board of Governors, and how would that Board relate to the administrative structure of the host institution?

On the basis of a review of concept papers, one institution will be

As agreed by IIE/USIS, CUMK may submit the concept paper shortly after the AAPC meeting on November 6, 1990. '
