I think the easiest way to bring you up-to-date on the purpose and method of operation of the Trust is to pass to you a copy of our brief to our local lawyers, Slaughter and May. As discussed on the phone, we would be very pleased if you in your capacity as Senior British Trade Commissioner would become one of the initial Trustees. I would also find valuable any recommendations you may have of people we could approach to fill two other of the Trustee appoint- ments someone to represent the British business community and someone to represent the Chinese business community. If you could suggest several names, that would be most helpful, as I will need to give a selection for my headquarters to choose from.

I fear the matter is fairly urgent as we need to have the Trust set up and running before the end of the financial year, and so an early

response would be much appreciated.
