In order to evade conscription, this Vietnamese, together with two friends, planned to flee Vietnam by land with intention to join escape boat in China. They departed HO CHI MINH by train on 5-4-90. After a brief stopover at HA NOI, they took a bus to LUONG SON where they went through a Vietnamese official check point. It was not until they bribed the officials with three gold rings and 200,000 Dongs, were they allowed to cross the border. Upon arrival at YOU YI GUAN (1) of China, they were permitted to enter freely. However, he lost contact with his friends since then. He was told that he would be apprehended by PRC officials if he went by bus. Therefore, he walked along the hill paths and, roads at SHI WAN DA SHAN (tk >
