They

These 25 VBP were the relatives and clansmen of the boatmaster. contributed around 1.5 tael of gold so as to purchase the exodus junk, fuel and foodstuff. No VN official was involved. The group fled QUANG TRẠCH, QUANG BINH, C.VN on 15-2-90 and reached SAN YA( ) after a 2-day voyage. They were examined by Chinese officials and were given 40 litres of fuel and 20 kg of rice by local residents. They carried on their journey in the following morning. Four days later, they sailed to WEN CHANG

and had to stay there for about

a month due to unfavourable weather and engine problem. They were again examined by PRC officials. During their stay, some of them worked for the Chinese fishermen earning RMB $10 per day. They departed WEN CHANG on 24-3-90 and came to WENG TIAN (on the next day. Having rested over-night, they moved on and touched HAI KOU (2 (2) on 29-3-90. This time, they were given RMB $100 by PRC officials after the usual examination. They purchased 40 litres of fuel and 20 kg of rice and rested for another night. They then sailed through
