Without any rest, they set sail in the morning. After 2 hours' voyage, engine failure caused them to be stranded for 5 days. Finally, they managed to buy another motorized boat at a cost of RMB 5,000 plus the abandoned boat. They resumed voyage in the morning of 7-4-90. Eventually, they arrived in Hong Kong in the same day afternoon without touching Macao.

10. They chose Hong Kong since they regarded the routing was safe and the charge was comparitively cheaper.
They spent about 0.4 tael of gold per head for the whole trip while they would be charged 2.5 taels of gold per head for the escape trip to Thailand.
