1. Twenty-nine of them had knowledge of the screening policy by means of BBC radio broadcast, letter, and hear-

say before their departure. They still preferred to come as they did not believe the information.

2. Ten of them had knowledge of the mandatory repatriation by means of BBC radio broadcast and hearsay before sailing.

3. Group I had 9 stopovers in China where PRC inspections were conducted at JIANG PING (L) and FANG cheng (+)

but no replenishment was ever given.

4. They was able to purchase food and daily necessities from the markets at JIANG PING (L) and FANG CHENG (1› and they later begged for food from local residents at QI SHA ). Thereafter, they begged for fresh water from local residents again in each stopover.

5. None had heard of the news that they would be placed on a deserted island after their arrival in Hong Kong.

b) DO VAN TUAN, male, DOB 12-09-65, imprisoned from 21-11-85 to 01-03-89 because of robbery.

c) NGO VAN HIEN, male, DOB 13-05-54, one year imprisonment ('87 to '88) because of his former service to

Ex-South Vietnam Government.

d) VU TIEN DUNG, male, DOB 22-06-62, imprisoned from '82 to 188 because of illegal trading.

e) VU TRONG HOA, male DOB 14-08-58, imprisoned from 178 to 183 because of fighting.

10. They chose Hong Kong instead of other countries as they regarded it was the safty routing.
