This boat has not been towed to GIRC. No photo is available.

All 23 VBP of this group were relatives and clansmen of the boatmaster. They resided at HA TUYEN, N.VN. which lies adjacent to the Sino-Vietnamese Land border. They planned the exodus about two months before departure. No VN official was involved.

On 11-3-90, the group went to HA GIANG and crossed the land border on foot. They arrived at MA LI PO (1), YUNNAM CHINA on the following day. They then took buses to DONG GAN

After a two-day stopover, they went to BEI HAI (

where they encountered Group II and III. The amalgamated group purchased a boat (by which they arrived) at 10,000 RMB from a local fisherman. On 29-3-90, the party of 38 set sail from BEI HAI. Two days later, they called at a port near JIANG HONG
