This time, he went back to Vietnam in Dec., 1989 and became familiar with the two boatmates of Group I. These three persons later on departed HO CHI MINH CITY, S.VN. together on 30-1-90 and subsequently entered Hong Kong waters on 16-2-90.

Additional Information

1. None had knowledge of the screening policy of mandatory/forced

repatriation before departure.

2. All would write back to Vietnam.

3. Three stopovers in China but no PRC official was ever encountered. 4. All of them had not heard of the news that they would be placed on

a deserted island after their arrival in Hong Kong.

5. Total no. of unaccompanied minors under the age of 18: Nil.

6. No serviceman, ex-serviceman, nor policeman was reported.

7. No criminal offence was ever committed by them in Vietnam.

8. They chose Hong Kong instead of other countries because of safety reason as they could speak cantonese and was familiar with the routing to Hong Kong.

9. All of them were land-crossers from Vietnam to China.
