), VO and Group II were led by Mr. MA and they arrived at SHA TAU KOK on the early morning of 7-12-1989. As described by VO, the place they arrived at was believed to be CHUNG YING STREET (
since there were more than twenty shops selling Hong Kong commodities along the road on both sides. As instructed by Mr. MA, they changed their dresses, carrying hocs and mixed with Chinese farmers. After crossing the check point,
they believed to have arrived Hong Kong as they could see some single-deck buses which were red in colour. They walked for half an hour and met 3 kida in a park. Then, they used simple English, since they could not speak Cantonese, to ask the kids to bring them to police station. They were then led to a pier where a Police Launch was moored. Afterwards, they were arrested and
taken to Sha Tau Kok Police Station for further enquiry.

Informant lived in HAI PHONG and was unemployed since 1975. intended to seek a better living overseas, he planned to come to Hong Kong since

He then started his journey with Group I, Mr. DO and Mr. NGUYEN on 20-11-1989. Thereafter, he stayed all the way with Group I and subsequently arrived in Hong Kong on 7-12-1989. They had knowledge of screening policy by means of radio broadcasting of B.B.C.
One of them had the knowledge of mandatory repatriation through newspapers, namely BAO NHÂN DÂN ( 人民報
) and BAO CONO AN (
which stated that all screened out VBP would be repatriated disregarding
their unwillingness to return. The news was heard in mid-November this year.
