(4) After Japan's unconditional surrender, the Japanese

army withdrew but the conversion of the Japanese

currency and military bills has not been announced.

Therefore, at present 2,300 members of our association

are still holding the then currency and bills.

Despite our repeated demands for conversion,

the Japanese government has been employing delaying

tactics.

(5) Points for analysis:

a.

Japanese currency and military bills were

the only legal tender in Hong Kong at that

time;

b.

On the back of each Japanese banknote or

military bill it was printed that it could

be used to exchange for Japanese legal

tenders;

C

The Japanese government is existing but

the money it issued is inconvertible.

This shows that it ignores its international

reputation;

d. The then Japanese currency and military

bills are still in our hands, so they are

our private property and we have a permanent

right to claim conversion;
