The attached telegram from Hanoi refers to possible jamming of a World Service "Keeping Faith" programme on July 9th.
Our engineers advise me that it is highly unlikely that jamming would occur for one specific half hour programme and it is impossible to confirm after the event whether or not jamming has occurred. We have not so far received any other report of jamming on this particular occasion.
Mr Partridge also asks whether it is possible for us to let him know of any similar programmes in the pipeline. It is, as I'm sure you appreciate, very difficult for us to do So. A current affairs topic such as this one tends to be planned at the last moment and it could be covered by any one of a number of World Service programmes.
I am sorry we cannot be more helpful, but we would be very grateful if the Post could pass back any further evidence of jamming.
