$370,000 is provided for the improvement on the power supply
system, such as replacement of electrical wiring, etc. This
sum does not cover the premium for the site.
2.3.
Replacement of AM Transmitters:
The budget for this item is $5-m. Budgetary price
quoted by a supplier for 3 sets 20 KW combined transmitter
(two 10 KW transmitters in parallel operation) is $3.8-m.
and for six sets 10 KW transmitter (one operating and one
standby), the budgetary price is $3,250,000.
A sum of $1.2-m.
is provided for ancillary equipment for the transmitters as
well as for the purpose of reconditioning of the antenna,
ground radial system and triplexer: a device to enable three
transmissions using one common antenna.
2.4.
Replacement of Studio to Transmitter Link Equipment:
It is proposed to replace the studio to transmitter link
equipment for our Chinese Services. The estimated cost is
-$300,000. In the current financial year, we have committed
a sum of $138,000 for the replacement of studio to transmitter
link equipment for our English Service due to the return of
the FM frequency to the Post Office.
2.5.
Studio Renovation (Internal Finishes):
The estimated cost for the item varies significantly,
particularly for the studio areas. A rough indication given
by our contractor amounts to $500,000 for the repair of the
acoustic panels, repainting the walls, reconditioning the doors
