The Jimmy Young Programme:

Request for an Interview

The Secretary of State has seen your minute of

15 September. He is content to do this interview but

only after the Royals have left Hong Kong and on the basis that Jimmy Young himself would do the interview and that

it would not be a phone-in which could be spoiled by aggressive inputs from others. In other words, the Secretary of State wants a clear run to get the Government's position

across to the public.
