What EC aid is provided to Vietnam at present?

What EC aid Vietnam might expect to receive if there

were a Cambodian settlement?

iii.

What would be required in order to block present EC

aid to Vietnam?

iv.

What would be required to block enhanced EC aid to

Vietnam following a Cambodian settlement?

2. At present Vietnam receives EC food aid and aid under the

EC's Joint Financing Scheme with NGOs. There has been no EC project aid to Vietnam since 1980.

3. So far as food aid is concerned, Vietnam is not on the list of countries eligible to receive food aid through the Community's regular Food Aid Programme, but it is able to receive EC emergency food aid.

In 1988 Vietnam benefited from two emergency

food aid allocations, each of 10,000 tonnes of rice. Together

they cost some £3 million.

4.

Under Article 941 of the Community Budget which covers co-financing with NGOs, some £1.3 million was provided to Vietnam

for 27 joint funded projects over the period from 1976 to 1987. In 1988 there were 9 joint funded projects costing some £200,000.
