82. Additional Support for RAF Akrotiri and RAF Ascension Island.

83.

a. A number of Part 2 plans require the use of RAF Akrotiri or RAF Ascension Island as a staging or reception airfield. Agreed criteria for determining the reinforcement levels required and a series of packages to meet the requirements are as shown at Annex E.

b. At the time of mounting an operation involving the use of RAF Akrotiri or RAF Ascension Island, the CBF concerned is to inform MOD of the requirement for individual reinforcements by reference to Serial Numbers from those packages selected for each Part 2 plan.

Arrangements for Providing Aviation Fuel.

a.

For planning purposes it is assumed that no aviation fuel will be available in the country to be evacuated.

b. MOD (DD S Pol 10 (RAF)) is responsible for arranging adequate aviation fuel supplies elsewhere. In view of the possible shortage of fuel stocks at staging, reception and evacuation airfields it is essential that maximum notice of the intention to implement an SAE plan is given. The availability of aviation fuel supplies will be a critical factor in the selection of suitable staging and reception airfields.

C. Aircraft are to uplift sufficient fuel at reception airfields to avoid refuelling at an evacuation airfield.

Where special fuel planning arrangements are required, details are contained in the relevant Part 2 plan.

84. Provision of Food and Accommodation for Evacuees. It is possible that circumstances will arise where there are no local facilities to provide food and accommodation and emergency provision must be made to relieve suffering. In each Part 2 plan, provision has been made, on an on-call basis, for emergency feeding, shelter and limited medical assistance by the Services in the event of a request for these resources being made by HM Representative. Facilities are planned at the scale shown in the following table, and further details are at Annex C. It should be noted that the deployment of these packages will require - a significant number of additional aircraft sorties:
