indents to provide architectural features, look out points,

yacht basins, and ceremonial berths. The development areas form three distinct clusters, Central, lamar and Exhibition

with a fourth area at the eastern end reserved for marinas,

typhoon shelter and Cargo working area. The building heights within the three development cells are proposed to be controlled so as to preserve Hong Kong's famous natural

ridgeline when viewed from Kowloon.

CIC and other specified uses

3.6 Land has been reserved for a possible major civic complex although no commitments have been made with regard to the rea,velopment of the present City Hall. Other sites in

strategic locations are also reserved for as yet

unspecified civic and cultural uses. In addition, land is reserved for a fire station, sewage treatment plant (this may not be required depending on the outcome of the Sewage Strategy now underway) and Port works depot (at the far eastern end). Land is also reserved for a helipad (to replace Fenwick Pier Street helipad) which would provide Security, Government and possible commercial services.

Transport System

3.7 The major transport infrastructure needed would be :

a) a trunk road through the reclamation to link the dual 3-lane elevated Connaught Road at Sheung kan with the

qual 4-lane Island tastern Corrider at North Point.

Estimates of traftic demand for the long term, after

construction of the Western harbour trossing, show the need for dual 2-lares for the western part of this trunk road and dual 4-lanes for the eastern part, viere

the slip roads at Exhibition join the trunk road. Connections to this trunk road are planned as follows :
