POSSIBLE OPTION FOR PRACTICE RULES

5.1

All solicitors are subject to rules of practice

Resident partners

5.2

At least one foreign lawyer partner in a foreign

law firm should be a resident partner.

5.3

A resident partner should

(a)

be a full capital partner of the firm;

(b)

(c)

be ordinarily resident in Hong Kong for at least 180 days in each year; and

before becoming a resident partner have been a partner, consultant, associate or assistant of the firm for a continuous period of at least 2

years.

5.4

A foreign law firm should, within 14 days of registration, notify the Society of the name of the person nominated as the resident partner.
