of past years' resettlement statistics (excluding
ODP departures) is offered for Governments to
consider possible levels for admission in the
context of the CPA.
The Co-ordinating Committee of the International
Conference is scheduled to meet again towards the
end of May 1989 to examine the status
of
resettlement undertakings, upon which hinge much
of the Comprehensive Plan of Action.
In this context, I appreciate the contribution
made by the UK towards the international
resettlement effort. At the same time I believe
that Her Majesty's Government is aware of the
need for allocation of expanded and more flexible
quotas within the terms of the understanding
arrived at in the Co-ordinating Committee and in
order to fulfil the commitment under the CPA.
I would therefore appeal to the Government of the
United Kingdom for a certain flexibility in the
application of resettlement policies, especially with regard to cases submitted without family or
other links. as well
as particularly needy and vulnerable groups of refugees, eg. unaccompanied
minors identified as having по alternative
option, refugees who аге medically at risk. etc. Only by all governments stretching their
