At this morning's meeting, Mr Maude asked for the

following work:

(a) The draft minute from the Secretary of State to the Prime Minister, which you said you were revising. Mr Maude would like to see it in the course of this afternoon;

(b) The outline of a new agreement with the Vietnamese, for tonight's box;

(c) The draft statement by the Secretry of State to be revised as agreed at this morning's meeting (for tonight's box);

(d) Background brief and guidance telegram (again, for tonight's box);

(e) A short account of normal deportation procedures to send to Washington. Mr Maude would like to see this later today. He will be discussing with Mr Weston this afternoon Hanoi telno 671 and how the accompanying senior security branch officials should be briefed;

(f) Details of which FCO telegrams the World Service see could News Dept clarify please.

There will be no meeting tomorrow; Mr Maude will be in his constituency. The meeting on Monday is at 0845.
