LIVING ACCOMMODATION

(a)

If the Governor offers accommodation, grateful at least

if the following could stay with him; the Secretary of State,

Lady Howe, 1 Private Secretary and 1 Detective. The remainder of

the party usually stay in a nearby hotel. The Head of News Department should be given a hotel suite for press briefing; his PA and COI Radio Technician should stay at the same hotel;

(b)

Please send costs of the hotels selected - suite/room

charge plus standard breakfast, services charges and taxes.

WORKING ACCOMMODATION

The Private Office should be set up wherever the Secretary of

State is staying. We shall require a large table or desks plus chairs for the two Private Secretaries, and two typing chairs and

desks for the two PAs. One of these desks should be "L" shaped.

Please provide two good electric English keyboard typewriters for

the Private Office. These should preferably be self-correcting

IBM golfball bookface type. A back-up manual typewriter will also be required. A good photocopier plus, if possible a small

Locking cupboard, is required. General purpose stationery with the usual requisites should be available. The PA to the Head of

News Department will also require an electric typewriter in the Head of News Department's suite, together with a small supply of general purpose stationery. Office space should also be made available if possible for the Senior Advisers. If you need to

hire office machinery, please advise cost.

COMMUNICATIONS

Telegrams: Continuous communications coverage (sleeping watch acceptable) will be required throughout the Secretary of

State's visit. COD will be in touch with you about

communications timings when the programme has been finalised;
