I was very glad to have had an opportunity on 11 January in meeting and talking briefly with you during your recent visit to Hong Kong. Your kind letter of 4 January at that time was still in the mail and did not arrive until a couple of days

ago.

It was very nice and thoughtful of you to take the trouble to write on the occasion of my award of the GBE by H M the Queen in the New Year Honours List. Your message of congratulations and words of praise are very much appreciated.
