On the evening of June 8, Zhu Rongji, Mayor of Shanghai, delivered a TV speech, calling on the people of the whole city to contribute to the stability of

Shanghai. His speech has earned the support and

acclamation from Shanghai citizens and foreign people

in the city as well. On June 9 morning, 100,000

workers' pickets turned out on the streets helping the

police with the clearance of road barricades and

maintenance of traffic order. By June 10, all the

public transport service in the city was restored.

Now the situation in Shanghai has become fully

stable, its economic order and people's life have
