CHINESE STUDENTS

Thank you for your letter of 13 June about Chinese Students in the UK. I have now discussed this with the Prime Minister. She agrees that the 'Chinese Students and Scholars Association' is the most appropriate body for her to meet. But she would not want to put them to any embarrassment by formally suggesting a meeting. The best course would be to convey a discreet message that if they were to seek a meeting it could be arranged. leave it to the Department to do this.

May I please
