2. As Mr Hum indicates, our main concern was that the

Portuguese should not achieve a better deal for Macau than

we were able to get for Hong Kong. It is clear that this did

not happen, even over nationality where differences between

British and Portuguese legislation are reflected. We will,

however, need to watch the immigration aspect referred to at the end of para 6 of the submission.
