MR RENTON;
First can I say to your Bowen Wells that I do not
think that I can go further in this respect than I have
already done. But I refer you to, for the avoidance of
doubt, the precise words are in paragraph 25 of our first
Memorandum to you: *The views of the Governor are always
taken into account in considering Crown Service
applications,"
MR BOVEN WELLS:
Yes and I have asked you the further question as to
how many of those recommendatious of the Governor have you
accepted and how any have you not accepted?
AR RENTON:
I do not think it would be appropriate, and indeed
might well be invidious, for me to reply specifically to
that question of yours which deals in essence with the
relationship between the view of the Governor and the
consideration given to them by successive Home
Secretaries,
MR BOVEN WELLS:
No but you were making some play with the issue that
the Governor made recommendations to the British
Government on each of the applications that you receive.
