MINISTERIAL STATEMENTS

(a) STATEMENTS IN PARLIAMENT

10 December 1984 : Baroness Young

In certain limited cases certain rights of admission will exist at

the discretion of the Home Secretary in the United Kingdom. That

will be on a very limited basis for people who were exposed to

special considerations and special factors.

6 February 1985: Mr Luce

The Hon Member for St Helens South (Mr Bermingham) referred to the

admission to country of people whom he described as 'at risk'. In

certain very limited cases rights of admission will exist at the

discretion of the Home Secretary, but this will be on a very limited

basis for people who have been exposed to special factors and

considerations. It would be inappropriate to disclose the

categories and numbers of people involved or the special

considerations or factors concerned. I should add that that point

has already been covered in previous statements and debates.

Our policy is that the assurances extend to spouses and dependent

children under the age of 18, as

as we have stated on previous

occasions.

16 January 1986: Mr Waddington

The Hon Member for Battersea (Mr Dubs) asked about those who might

be at risk after the Chinese takeover. I can only repeat that undertakings have been given to some people in Government service.
