Review of Records Management in Hong Kong Government

This circular announces а review of records management within the Government and seeks the support and cooperation of all officers in this exercise.

2.

The growth of information and records in the Government, changes in information and records keeping technology, and requirement for economy and efficiency in resources management have called for a review of the policy on the management of Government records.

3.

The terms of reference for the review are:

ΤΟ examine, report on and make recommendations regarding the management of Hong Kong Government records with a view to:

(a) including

the'

introduction

legislation)

and

of policies (possibly administrative arrangements to provide for the efficient and economic management of records throughout their entire life-cycle on a government-wide basis;

(b) the development of an effective records management

in

function

government departments/agencies in support of their goals and objectives consistent with the requirements of Government policy for the overall management of government records; and

(c) the delivery of a range and level of services related to government records to meet the needs of the Government and community of Hong Kong for information and records services.
